That’s great! Now let them go back to YouTube videos telling people how to do stuff they've never done before and never will.

sums up why car companies rarely listen to enthusiasts. too picky and never buy what they say they’d buy.

“If only it had a manual”
Enthusiasts buy only 4 types of vehicles ever:
1. Miata
2. Old pickups
3. GTI/WRX/FocusST/Any hot hatch
4. Mustang/Camero/Challenger

To be honest, I wouldn’t buy it anyway if I was in the market for it.
That said, the Lexus LC500...oh my FUCK I want it bad in blue with the red interior.
I must be feeling what people in the 90s felt when they fell in love with the original 8-series. I want this car bad in two years when I can actually afford it.

The Supra is really more like a penguin wearing a baseball cap with elephant ears. As far as I can tell they provided a steering wheel and a body and that’s it. They aren’t even building it in a Toyota factory.

Oh God tell me about it.
No offence to the Americans, but it’s a consistent.
“Why can’t we get the Civic Type R they get in Europe” , get the Civic Type R from Europe, “that’s ugly, look at all the fake vents and angles, etc...”
“We need another wagon” , get the Opel Insignia badged as a Buick Regal, “ye’, it’s a Buick, it’s so bland and boring”, “ why do we get the one with the awful plastic cladding (market so far has said this is the one that will sell”, “not enough horse power, how am I going to do my slow stop start commute doing no more than 25mph with less than 300bhp?” .
“We want the Ford Ranger back” , your getting the Ford Ranger back, “it’s not small anymore I may as well buy a Ford F150", “ it’s the same size as an F150 but the F150 is cheaper”.
There was even one earlier on here where someone compared the power of a vehicle to that of two much smaller vehicles in completely different segments.
The number of times I read, ‘needs a V8', ‘it’s underpowered’, ‘needs a bigger engine for the U.S.’.
It’s infuriating.
Non are inclined or in a position to buy one and how many times have us in Europe and around the world got snide remarks on reliability of VW products over the years and how many on here now have VW Jetta’s and Golf’s of different ages, engines, fuel types and gear boxes in the U.S.
Rant over, flame suit on.

To be honest I would have forced (meaning begged/pleaded) my wife to buy a CX5 if she weren’t so set on a Hybrid. At least we ended up with a hatchback and not an ugly Prius

Hahaha perfect! That is why the perfect “enthusiast” vehicle is jokingly a fictional Brown Diesel Miata Wagon for under $15,000.

Honestly, if they just made a 300hp hot-hatch with a manual for less than a used Miata and has a brown + diesel option I would totally buy one in 5 years on the used market.

As far as the VW comment goes, I get where youre going with it, although, I am in the ‘VW sucks’ camp, but then again, I’m a European, so I can say what I want....:p.

I’m not offended, you’re dead right. “Why can’t we have manuals?”
I bought an automatic because I have to drive in traffic
My [significant other] can’t drive manual
I couldn’t find any manuals on the dealer lot on the exact day I arbitrarily decided to fall for their sales tactics

The VWs they had and still most often get are ones built in North America.
Lol. I’ve had two Skodas, know many in the VW, Skoda, Audi and SEAT family and I’d say 99% have had great experiences with them while 1% have had total lemons and they could be base models up to limited edition vehicles.
Friend had great experiences with his Skoda Fabia vRS, only got rid of it and he’d just had a child and people kept wanting to race him everywhere so went to a one car household, a Fiat Grande Punto, awful car, but just kept on going. He had a 1.0 new Ford Fiesta and had no end of worries with it from drinking oil, to only getting half the mpg from it, loss of power when he needed it, etc... but the garages kept saying the diagnostics were fine, replaced a few things here and there, still no improvement and just got shot of it.

My [significant other] can’t drive manual
Cue a bunch of strangers on the internet giving you relationship/marriage advice on why you should teach them a manual or how your S/O shouldn’t factor in your transmission choices or even car choices or how they don’t let their S/O wear the pants in their relationship by driving a manual like a manly man. Without fail, on every single forum ever.
I would gladly buy a second manual only weekend sportscar if I can afford it. I owned a manual motorcycle for several years and I would not be caught dead on an automatic motorcycle for example. But end of the day we have families and need to be practical.

I know right? I would drop $80K plus any additional dealer mark up on that sweet new 700HP Shelby Gt500, If ONLY they had a manual option!*
*If I win the Power ball lottery
Jokes aside, I think they should at least offer a manual as option because if not anything the ZL1 and Hellcat do.

All of that is correct.
And as one of the first on here to get a GTI, I am still not entirely certain VW has tremendously improved their reliability record. So far I haven’t had anything major occur. Here’s hoping that remains the case.
But I bought it because I drove everything else like it on the market at the time (late 2015 ) and it was the only car that checked all the boxes and that I also enjoyed driving.
All the haters, who haven’t even driven the new Supra yet since it’s only just been “officially” announced, need to go drive an original one. If they’re intelligent, they’ll change their tone.
However, it is scientifically proven that commenting on the internet lowers ones IQ by a factor of 1,000.

Ive heard a lot of bad experiences with the Grande Punto’my co-workers both had one and sold it within 2 years of ownership.
As far as vw’s go, I don’t know what it is, but I’ve had a lot of friends (including my own parents) that had Audi’s, VW’s, Skoda’s and Seat’s and every single one that either had an Audi or a VW had problems with them, Seat’ s and Skoda’s somehow did fine. I am very well aware that this doesn’t make sense, but the Golfs were sitting more in the dealer repair shops than being driven, while the Leon’s of the same generation drove around without a hitch.

lol, seriously.
Also, wait. There are automatic motorcycles? I genuinely did not know this.
We would buy only manuals if we could, my wife only owned her first automatic - ever - within this past year. But yeah, practical reasoning has little to no place on the internet.
* quick aside, none of my points in the other post actually apply to me or my wife, haha.

For me, it was because the options I wanted were not available with the manual, and the manual was impossibly rare to find anyway . Plus the traffic thing.

You mean a company that sells manual transmissions would put out an article saying why you should have a manual transmission?

Clever, clever.
FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH I’M TOTALLY IN A POSITION TO BUY ONE BUT IT’S HIDEOUS AND THAT’S ALL THAT MATTERS AND NO AMOUNT OF POOR CAR ENTHUSIASTS MAKES IT OKAY
I wish they’d do an MR2. I’d so consider buying one. I like the new MX-5 but dammit, I want my mid enginedness. And targa top. If the FT-HS can do it, it’s not beyond the realm.
Fuck the Supra thoughhhhhh
